OpenDoor Womens Recovery is a grass-roots Columbus-based nonprofit organization that walks side by side with vulnerable women in our community. These women have recently left Federal Prison, treatment for substance use disorder, and/or a court ordered diversion program. As women complete their sentences, they usually have little to no support and as a result return to the very life they were trying to escape.
This is where OpenDoor-Columbus is needed the most. When women are released to start their lives anew, there is a massive gap of support, guidance, friendship, love, and relationships.
But as we know, God is so Good! OpenDoor received a $50,000 grant from the Gannett Foundation and we promised we would recruit 75 volunteers and serve 10 women!!!
Volunteers form small groups of 5-6 people (a Table), complete 12 hours of training and then a woman (a Friend), from a Referral Partner joins the Table. These groups of mentors spend one hour a week for one year sharing their resources, social and relational capital, friendship, support and more with their Friend.
Because of this proven method of change, women are ready to embrace change and are successful in transforming their lives to enjoy a life of sobriety. They cannot do it without YOU!
I am asking for you to prayerfully consider becoming a volunteer and being a part of transforming someone’s life - you too will be transformed. To learn more or volunteer, contact Tammy Foeller at tammy@opendoorwomensrecovery.org.
Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me. (Matthew 25:40)
The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women and youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities.
Kairos Outside weekends are very similar to CumChristo weekends. If you are interested in serving on a Women’s Kairos Outside weekend team, volunteer, or for more information please contact: Diane at kaufmandiane@hotmail.com
I was in prison and you came to visit Me. (Matthew 25:36)
Babies usually need about 7-9 diapers a day, depending on age. Disposable diapers are required by day cares but single moms and dads struggle to pay for diapers and often run short, losing a day of work.
If you are willing to have a diaper drive with your group or parish, you can contact Beth Snoke at Bottoms Up Diaper Bank at Beth@bottomsup.life or 614.554.5664 or Sue Gaddam for more information at gaddamsue@gmail.com or 614-668-4041. You can attach a note of encouragement for the parent to the package, if you want.
Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. (Matthew 18:5)
