Anthony L. “Tony” Alessandro, 74, of Amherst, Ohio formerly of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Lorain, Ohio. He was born on August 9,1951 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Salvator and Carmela (nee Tragna) Alessandro. He retired from PNC Bank after many years of dedicated service as a project manager. Tony’s life was guided by a steadfast Catholic faith and a sincere commitment to serving others. A devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, he served faithfully with the Knights of Columbus and the Vincentians and found joy in coordinating the church’s Giving Tree each Christmas, helping bring comfort and hope to those in need.
Tony was the beloved life partner of Evelyn Caffarel; loving father of Maria (Ben) Bailey and Julie Alessandro; treasured grandfather of Macala (Chase) Spivey, Patrick Schirtzinger, Taylor Schirtzinger, Regan Schirtzinger, Cassie Caffarel, Cara Caffarel, and Catherine Bailey; cherished great-grandfather of Lukas Spivey and Ivy Mayse; dear brother of Thomas Alessandro (deceased); and loving nephew of Mary Tragna.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St Joseph Dr, Amherst, OH 44001. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tony’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Tony did his Cum Christo weekend about 1989. He sponsored me for Cum Christo in 1991. I've grouped with them since that amount of time. He had lung cancer and another complications.
God bless you, Tony.
Love,
Jim Kearns
